II Samuel 15

Chapter 15

v. 3:  It cannot be that the king himself saw everyone with a complaint or difficulty, so he must have had representatives.  Absalom seems to be trading on the people’s ignorance.  He asked which city they were from (as if intending to direct them to their representative) and then told them that their city (the name did not matter since Absalom was probably lying anyway) had no representation.

v. 5:  I wonder if this bowing is the sort of thing one did when pledging fealty to a king and if Absalom, in kissing those who bow, is accepting their service (service to which he has no right).

v. 19:  It is interesting that David calls Absalom king.

v. 21:  I wonder if Ittai had adopted the worship of God.  Note that he swears by the LORD.

Vs. 25-26:  This is a beautiful example of humility.  David realizes that he is not worth to be king and has completely submitted himself to God.
