II Samuel 7

Chapter 7

v. 1:  I wonder if one of the reasons that God did not want a king to rule is the fact that the choosing of a king would favor one tribe over the rest.  That is what happened when he picked David from Judah as king, and Jerusalem in Judah as his permanent dwelling place. (Note Psalm 78:67-72.)

v. 11b: God will not allow David to build him a house, but God promises David that He will build a house for the king.

v. 19:  This surprise that David expresses over God’s decision to make him so great reveals David’s essentially humble personality.
